Almost fifteen years after the violent conflict in 2001, Macedonia’s society is today largely divided along ethnic (national, religious, linguistic) and political party lines. Nationalist rhetoric, conflicting views of the past and lagging behind in institutional reforms as outlined in the Ohrid Framework Agreement challenge the social fabric and peace within local communities. forumZFD’s project on community consulting helps local communities to deal with conflicts constructively and promotes (inter-ethnic) cooperation among citizens, local government institutions and civil society.
